P1 A
PLACE CALLED HOME
Hang your coat upon the wall.
It's not too big kind of small.
Simple pleasures, simple food.
It feels safe structures sound, this house built on top the ground.
The bed that holds my body tired.
Roof above to shelter me.
Bible close to worship thee.
Table solid which we're fed, sleep upon an old brass bed.
Water drank comes from a well.
Friends that gather, stories to tell.
Cast iron stove, warms my feet.
Line dried laundry, fresh and neat.
I can think when I'm alone...
Cozy place that I call home.
P2 THESE MOMENTS
I love Autumn the colours of;
red's, orange, yellow and bronze.
The crisp clean air, you know fall soon will be here.
The beautiful woods, the trees all a glow.
The animals all getting ready for snow.
The Thanksgiving that soon will arrive.
Taking our walks, loving our talks.
Autumn is the time I love.
Getting ready for winter.
Getting to wear your favorite sweater.
Raking the leaves, feeling like a kid again.
These moment may pass, come only once a year.
So we will welcome them with open arms,
and tidings of cheer.
...This time of year.
P3 LITTLE HEARTS
Deep as the ocean, blue as the skies,
bright as the stars are her eyes.
Hair spun of honey glaze n' gold.
Handle with care, fragile package am I.
Little hearts that grow quickly, memories that we hold.
Peaches 'n cream her skin that of silk.
Smile that brightens any rainy day.
Quite whisper as she says, "Good-bye", and waves away.
She's as pretty as can be- that's my Marcy,
...Marcy Marie.
P4 BOND BETWEEN
(for Heather & Eric)
I'm never alone as long as your near.
I always have your laughter to hear.
Sister and brother we'll always be. We share the sunshine and the tears.
Tell each other of our dreams and fears.
Though as we grow older, matter not the miles apart,
our bond between us we keep safe within our hearts...
P5 CARRY ON
Carry on my name 'twas given.
For unto you my child I love,
your the dream I've been dreaming of.
You've came down from heaven above.
So carry on my hopes, and my dreams for you.
They will someday be your hopes, dreams and visions too.
Carry on...
P6 P A P A
(for Father)
The hand that guides me.
Arms that hold me.
Voice that scolds me.
Lips that kiss me.
The name I keep in my heart.
One that protects me.
Laughs, tries to cheer me.
He that is so dear to me.
Man who is my friend. Friend to the bitter end.
One who teaches, one who preaches.
The one, the only my Papa.
P7 FRIEND OR FOE
(Trust)
Friend or Foe, for this I do not know.
You try to trust and then let go.
The feelings inside to let them show.
Do I take this chance?
Do I step to the edge?
Do I let you inside the heart that weeps.
Why is there such despair, for the way I want to show I care.
I'd like to worry never again.
Feel at ease, be a friend.
But to have to hold, it melts away.
Why must I always feel so bold.
We pass but once, time repeats although.
I can't remember ... are you friend or foe?
P8 CAN'T RECALL
Have one on me, don't mind if I do. (...Good cigar)
She looks pretty sweet. She reminds me of you.
Your first time? My first time, too.
Now, ain't that a gas. Yeah, we got her at last.
She's so tiny, she's so small.
I wasn't nervous...Me? No, not at all.
What do you call her? Who me? How about you?
I really can't remember. I really can't recall.
We did see another one. It looks just like this one
I think they called it B A B Y-
Yeah, BABY that's all.
P9 GUESS WHO
(for Mother)
She heals when I'm feeling blue.
Only friend to tell your troubles to.
Helps all the hurt go away. Can cheer you on a rainy day.
One who is kind, caring and thoughtful, too.
Gives her advice free without charge.
She's always a comfort.
Yes, Mom that's you.
P10 DAUGHTER'S THREE
(for Mandy, Amy & Emily)
First came one... Now there are two.
What do you know three, to join our sister family.
One, is pretty and one is smart.
The third one full of charm, straight from the heart.
Look alike, no not we.
But yes, we came from the same loving family.
Love united and cherished shall be,
between our darling daughter's three.
P11 DADDY'S GIRL
He kissed the hurt upon my knee.
Daddy's girl, I guess that's me...
He bought my car for my sweet sixteen,
then tossed me the key.
Daddy's girl...yeah, that's me.
We also had the heart to heart talk.
Then we made the down the isle walk.
Daddy's girl...
Your right, that's me.
P13 DEPRESSION
Could it be your really not like me.
Your really not like me at all.
I call for you, I reach for you. I find you, then your gone.
You don't stay so long. I'm glad when you are gone.
Why it's you again, my long lost friend.
Coming back to tease me, taunt me, torment me.
Now, leave me alone! There's no one at home.
Go away from here!
My depression so dear.
P14 H*U*S*B*A*N*D
He hugs me all so tight.
Usually the one that turns out the light.
Sweet as can be that man to me.
Bountiful love he gives.
The wonderful feeling that lives.
A man that has so much to share.
I always know that you are there... that you care.
Now, years combined, woven, intertwined.
Don't you know, don't you see.
He's the only one for me.
P15 FIRST KISS
Felt so different, felt so new.
Felt so different, almost like dew.
Glad it was you.
Again, maybe a few.
My heart pitter pats so fast, soon you'll be the thing of the past.
My first time at last...
It's over and then...it happened again.
So exciting, so brand new!
So glad...it was you.
P16 GROCERY MAN
He always greets me with a smile.
Sometimes even talks awhile.
Something always new to see. Sometimes a surprise for me.
They always have just what you want.
Helps you when you've gone astray.
Tells you the special cuts of the day.
Can find you just the right selection.
Carries your bags right to the car.
Then says, "have a good day", in just the right way.
"Come back again," he says with a grin.
As he tightens his apron...folds up the carts.
Locks the doors, turns off the lights.
Says good night to another day.
P17 KITTY KAT
Warm and soft.
Full of cheer. Has no fear.
Motor runs a mile a minute.
Whiskers prick your face.
Milk left on your mouth.
Answer with a little sound.
So glad there around.
Wake me up in the morning.
Pad me on the nose.
You want your breakfast, so I arose.
My special friend. You ask so little.
Yet give so much in return.
So, gladly I found you.
Happy that your mine.
P18 OLD FAITHFUL
His nose is cold. Not very old.
Tongue is wet, licks my face.
Stays home, doesn't roam.
Waiting always close by. Asking for a pat on the head.
Always eager to be fed.
Pulled his ear when I was three. Excited ready to walk with me.
Who barks when danger lurks. Tries to let you know.
Reward a kind word or two.
That's old faithful, man's best friend, to me and you.
P19 COUNTRY COMFORT, COUNTRY CHARM
Hear the rooster's crow at early morn.
See the little calf being born.
The familiar scent of new mown hay.
The breeze of apple blossom on a warm summer's day.
The taste of Grandma's cherry pie.
The blissful flight of the butterfly.
A child's wonderment and question, "why"
The crack of sweet corn.
A winter's sunset.
The silent presence of the deer.
The animals sounds we love to hear.
The country's pride we feel inside.
The special charm of our life on the farm.
P20 LONG DISTANCE
Just around the corner, halfway 'round the bend.
He's like a long lost partner, an old unforgotten friend.
He's someone who is waiting, waiting for your call.
It doesn't seem to matter, he seems to love us all.
Someone who shows a way, still accepts the way we are.
You can find him very quickly, he's never very far.
Just look between the want ads, in column number one.
He's close to heaven, and up above the son.
He will listen closely, when number you do dial.
In fact it's 1-800-I'd-like-to-talk-awhile.
